The Autumn Harvest Feast is an evening full of dining, dancing, and celebrating with your favorite local farmers, artisans, chefs, and friends.

With over 20 of Athens' finest local chefs gathered together for one special evening, this event is one you don't want to miss! Chefs will be paired with farmers from the market to create an unforgettable local and seasonal meal.

Proceeds will support our outreach efforts to address food insecurity in Athens as well as our community programming. This includes our Double SNAP Incentive Program, our Food As Real Medicine Prescription Program (FARM Rx) as well as our at-market community programming (children’s booth, cooking demo). Our SNAP doubling program makes it possible for the nutrition-assistance recipients to have access to local, sustainable, and wholesome food by doubling the value of SNAP dollars at the Athens Farmers Market.  The FARM Rx program offers low income members of our community prescriptions for fresh fruits and vegetables at the market alongside integrated nutrition education and free medical screenings.

The Autumn Harvest Feast was created as a way to raise money to support our SNAP Doubling Program at the Athens Farmers Market. For 9 years, this has been our largest project to increase food access in the Athens Community. Since we began the doubling program in 2010, we have doubled $375,334 to $750,668! We have one of the largest SNAP Doubling programs in the state! In 2017, we piloted the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program (FVRx) in Athens and saw tremendous success! We had some of the highest retention rates in the state as well as successfully developed the curriculum to run the program in both English and Spanish. In 2019, the Athens Farmers Market implemented their own, hyper-local version of the program called the Food As Real Medicine Prescription Program (FARM Rx)The market assumes a portion of the financial burden to run this program successfully. Additionally, we partnered with the UGA Office of Sustainability to hire an EBT outreach coordinator who helped to more effectively communicate our SNAP Doubling message to the members of our community who would benefit most from it.

Over 20 of Athens’ best local chefs will pair with farmers from the market to prepare a local-centric family-style dinner; local breweries, mixologists and sommelier will be curating an unforgettable beverage list; Alice Rolls, President and CEO of Georgia Organics will be our guest speaker and 250 of our favorite Athens residents will be sharing an unforgettable meal together.
