Partner Spotlight: Creature Comforts Brewing Co.

Hello market friends!

My name is Sam and I’m the new intern this season at the Athens Farmers Market. I am currently a sophomore at UGA studying Sociology, and I’m actively involved in many campus and community organizations, like Bag the Bag and other environmental groups. I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to help out with this market season and to contribute to this well established organization. I have already felt extremely welcomed by everyone during these past few weeks, and I can’t wait for the rest of the season to come! Also, by no means am I a blog-writing expert, so stick with me while I get the hang of this!

As you all know, beginning back in July of 2014, the Wednesday market moved from City Hall over to the parking lot at Creature Comforts Brewery and has been flourishing there ever since. With more space in one allotted location, rather than having booths spread out along the sidewalks, the Wednesday market now has a more cozy and communal feeling.

Creature Comforts opened up in April of 2014, nearly one whole year ago, where they took over the former Michelin Snow Tire Co. building. The brewery has been going strong since day one and is continuing to grow and expand its business. I, myself, am not much of a beer connoisseur, but from my experience I can say that Creature Comforts beer is of top-notch quality and taste. Their new beautifully designed cans that hit the shelves last November have become very popular as well.

This brewery would not be able to thrive as it is without the solid backbone of passionate individuals that make Creature Comforts was it is. They follow a motto “crave curiosity” because they believe that “being curious leads people to uncover their passion, and that the pursuit of that passion leads to happiness and the ability to enjoy the Creature Comforts of life.” I really love this slogan and find it quite inspiring.

Also, Creature Comforts is hosting the Good Food Good Beer Block Party on May 23rd from 1pm to 4pm. Proceeds benefit our SNAP doubling incentive program sponsored by Wholesome Wave Georgia. Stop on by, eat, and drink with us. It’s a win-win situation: you get delicious food and drink from top local chefs while also supporting a tremendous cause. It’s sure to be a grand ole time!

Hope to see you all at the market on Wednesday, or Saturday!
